Every route to residency in Armenia
There’s no single “visa” — Armenia grants residency on a few clear grounds. Here’s each route, who it suits, and how they compare.
Most foreigners obtain Armenian residency on one of three grounds: a company, a job, or family. All lead to a residence card, are renewable, and can progress to permanent residency. The right route depends on your situation.
The three main routes
| Route | Best for | Key requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Company | Founders, freelancers, investors | An active Armenian company |
| Employment | Employees of an Armenian firm | A valid work contract |
| Family | Spouses, children, parents | Proof of relationship |
1. Through a company (most popular)
Register a company, then apply for temporary residency as director or shareholder. It’s flexible, works for remote entrepreneurs, and the same company can support family members. Start with company registration.
2. Through employment
If an Armenian employer hires you, your work contract is the basis for residency. Simple if you already have the job offer.
3. Through family
Spouses, children and parents can obtain residency with relationship documents. Often combined with the company route so a whole family relocates together.
Temporary to permanent
- Temporary residency: 1 year, renewable
- Maintain your basis (company activity, job, or family tie)
- Permanent residency: eligible after ~3 years
